CLUE: This city is home to the Henry B. Plant Museum, bright sunsets, glistening waterways, the annual Gasparilla Pirate Festival and my buddy, former Real World Seattle star Lindsay MacDonald.
I arrived in the Sunshine State on Thursday and landed in the Tampa International Airport just in time to make rush hour traffic in the rain. Tampa Bay is located on the central west coast of Florida. My cab driver took me to my hotel, and rain or shine, it is one of my favorite places to stay in the country. The Embassy Suites Hotel is on Florida Avenue across from the convention center on the bay. Not only is the weather warm, the people of Tampa are warm and friendly as well. In the case you’re vacationing, Tigers Eye is a great stone to wear in the evening as well as in the sun with your swimwear. I’m not sure it will actually make your hips look smaller, but I know it makes me feel better if I am wearing earrings and a necklace. I hope to draw the focus to the few parts of the body that don’t need to go to the gym – the neck and ear lobes. And yes, I brought my tennis shoes to tampa, and no, I did not run on the treadmill - again - uuugh!

I decided to venture to the popular tourist area, Channelside, to have dinner. I enjoyed Tuna Asada at Tina Tapas. Talk about fabulous! Even in the rain, this is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. If you’ve read any of my other posts, you know I love Trolleys, and Tampa has a great electric streetcar system. Here is a picture of the area, a trolley, and Channelside..

I was happy to join both Cyndi Edwards and Lindsay MacDonald in my fall jewelry trend and style segment which will air October 8. I met fellow television guests, authors, and multi-taskers, the Pursell sisters, in the green room. Lauren is the editor of Self Magazine http://www.self.com/.
Her sister Anne Purcell Grissinger works for JP Morgan and is the mommy of two small children. We instantly bonded. The sealing moment was when Lauren and Anne told me they are spokeswomen for Sara Lee products. Now THAT is a company close to my heart. My dad worked for the Kitchens of Sara Lee in their plant in New Hampton, Iowa for many years and I spent a summer working in their bakery thrift shop. I think I lived on bread and cheesecake for three months. Anne and I laughed at our mutual stories of being working moms on the road and Lauren amazed me with her ability to multi-task while holding a prestigious position at one of my favorite women’s magazines.
